Newspaper Items
Listed by date, grouped by year. Order of elements in citations: name of newspaper (from the masthead, not the digital archive), date of publication, page, column, any other information that might be helpful in finding the item on the page, such as titles, headlines, section headings, etc. Most of the items are untitled. Most titles and headlines are not useful for anything other than providing some help in finding the item on the page, and that is why I have relegated them to the end of the citation.

- Deseret News (Great Salt Lake City, Utah Territory), 21 Aug 1852, pg 3, col 2, under "List of persons sent from Great Britain by the Perpetual Emigrating Fund Co., in the months of January and February 1852, by Franklin D. Richards agent at Liverpool."
- Item Number: n369
- Summary: Newspaper item about the arrival in Salt Lake City of a wagon train of immigrants. This group was organized in Europe and financed by the Perpetual Emigrating Fund of the Mormon Church. It left Great Britain by ship and somehow made it to Kansas City, Missouri, where it was formed into a company led by Abraham O. Smoot for the overland journey by wagon train to Salt Lake City.
- Excerpts: On line 34 of the list of people: "David Isaac Jones and wife". The last paragraph of the article: "By a letter from brother A. O. Smoot, dated 45 miles above Fort Kearny, July 7th, 1852, we learn tht 226 of the above named persons are in his company, are healthy, prosperous and cheerful, and rapidly being advanced westward. ... we may safely look for their arrival in the [Salt Lake] valley, from the 20th to the 30th, inst.
