Note: Gary says that Livernash published the Herald until Oct 1896, when he sold it to W. R. Ellis, completely missing the ownership/editorship of J. H. Dungan.
Note: In this follow-up to his previous article, Drummond says that Livernash, after his arrest, "sold his share in the Herald to his partner Jesse H. Dungan, who ran the paper for the next five years". I have not seen any evidence that Dungan was a partner of Livernash, and I doubt that he was, since he did not sell his interest in the Star until October. And other newspapers would have reported his partnership with Livernash in purchasing the Herald, if he had been in a partnership with him. And it is unlikely that those two would join together to run a newspaper, since Livernash was a Democrat and Dungan was a Republican
